Much Ado About Nothing

Shakespeare’s most famous comedy.  Runs an hour and 20 minutes.  Fun with a lot of mistaken identity & friends tricking their friends into falling in love.

The Tempest

Runs an hour.  A magical show with a wizard and strange creatures on an island.  Has some romance and lots of comedy.

Grassroots Shakespeare is an Original Practice company. This means we do Shakespeare the way that Shakespeare did Shakespeare!

No director! casting, costuming and staging are all done collaboratively

No fourth wall! In Shakespeare’s day, such a thing hadn’t been invented yet! Your typical Elizabethan audience would boo the villain and cheer on the hero or even answer questions for the characters! All of the dialogue and action is presented straight to the audience, inviting their response!

Very little rehearsal! In Shakespeare’s day, actors were expected to memorize their individual parts and put on a show within days! This makes our shows more spontaneous with genuine reactions!

A Grassroots show is an entirely different sort of live theater experience! Be prepared to understand Shakespeare for the first time and you’ll see why we’ve been a Utah favorite for 16 years!
