Where you can watch outdoor movies this summer in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — As you’re looking for activities to add to your summer bucket list, one you might want to consider is enjoying a movie under the stars. For a night of fun, here are several spots in Utah that are hosting outdoor movies where you can take your family.

Davis County

Bountiful Town Square
This is a free event at Bountiful Town Square where activities will begin around 8:30 p.m., with movies starting at 9 p.m.

  • July 13 – “Wonka”
  • August 10 – “Kung Fu Panda 4”

Centerville

At Smith Park, Centerville City will be hosting free movies in the park, with various activities going from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and movies starting at 9 p.m.

  • June 14 – “Onward”
  • June 28 – “Migration”
  • July 12 – “50 First Dates”
  • July 26 “Beauty and the Beast”
  • August 9 – “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”

Kaysville City is offering free movies in the park and activities for families to enjoy.

  • June 15 – “Wonka” at Heritage Park. The Children’s Entrepreneur Marker will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk.
  • July 3 – Kaysville City will be hosting two movies at Barnes Park. “Moana” will be at Liston Field (east of the pickleball courts) and “National Treasure” will be at the southeast corner of Barnes Park. Both movies start at dusk.
  • August 17 – “Cars” will be at the Heritage Park at dusk

Layton

The Davis Arts Council is offering a Free Friday Film series, with movie showings at the Kenley Amphitheater at 7 p.m.

  • July 12 – “The Goonies”

West Point City

West Point City will be having movies in the park on June 28, July 12 and August 16 at Loy Blake Park. Food trucks will be there starting at 7:30 p.m. with movies to start at dusk.

Salt Lake County

Magna

Magna Arts Council will be having a “Music and Movie” in the park series at Pleasant Green Park from 8 p.m. to 11:55 p.m., featuring live musical performances before the movie.

  • July 12 – “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”
  • July 19 – “Wonka”

Millcreek Venture Out Movie Night’s

As part of Millcreek City’s “Venture Out” program, movie nights will be offered, with food trucks and a DJ to kick off the night. These events will be going from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and are free.

Millcreek Venture Out Festivals

For additional fun, the “Venture Out” program will also be having free festivals, complete with live music, recreational activites, arts & crafts, food trucks and a movie under the stars.

Riverton

Riverton City will be hosting movies in the park as part of their “Friday Fun Nights” at Riverton City Park. Movies are free and will begin at dusk, with entertainment beginning around 5:30 p.m. The dates for the event fall on Fridays throughout August, starting on August 2 and ending August 23. Movies are to be determined.

Sandy

Sandy City will be holding a “Movies in the Park Series” at various locations, offering free summer outdoor movies under the stars.

  • June 14 – “Barbie” at America First Stadium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at 7:30 p.m. The city will also be collecting donations for local domestic violence shelters. There will also be a Barbie-themed costume contest.
  • July 16 – “Shrek” at Flat Iron Park. Movie begins at dusk.
  • August 23 – “Wonka” at Falcon Park. Movie begins at dusk.

South Jordan

South Jordan will be having “Movies in the Moonlight” at Oquirrh Shadows Park. There will be food trucks from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. and activities at 7 p.m. Movies are free and will start at dusk, around 9 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.

Eagle Mountain

Eagle Mountain is inviting people to enjoy a series of free movies at the Silver Lake Amphitheater this summer.

  • June 14 – “Wonka” at 9:30 – 11 p.m.
  • July 12 – “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” @ 10 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
  • August 16 – “Trolls Band Together” @ 8 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
  • September 6 – “Migration” @ 8 p.m.
  • October 5 – “Hocus Pocus” @ 7:15 p.m.

Lehi

Thanksgiving Point will be holding an outdoor movie series at the Ashton Gardens this summer, complete with a 40-foot screen and themed nights. Tickets are free for Thanksgiving Point members, $7.50 for adults and $5 for children. Doors open at 8 p.m., movies to begin at dusk.

Orem – Scera Shell Outdoor Theatre

The Scera Shell Outdoor Theatre is offering a series of movies this summer, with tickets for individual movies going at $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children. Movies are set to start at dusk.

  • June 19 – “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial”
  • July 10 – “An American Tail”
  • July 17 – “Raiders of the Lost Ark”

Orem – University Place

University Place will be offering outdoor movies this summer in The Orchard. Face painting and popcorn will be offered from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Quench It and Kona Ice will be available for sale. Movies are expected to begin around dusk.

Springville will be having a free outdoor summer movie series at Spring Acres Arts Park. Gates will open at 7 p.m. with movies starting at dusk.
